Privacy policy

This policy explains what we collect on thedwarkesh.com, why we collect it, who sees it and how you can change your mind. We wrote it in plain English. It follows India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

Who we are. thedwarkesh.com is run by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“The Dwarkesh”, “we”, “us”). For the DPDP Act, we are the Data Fiduciary for the data you give us on this site.

The Dwarkesh group means three businesses: The Dwarkesh, Bizgrowth Ninja (ads and tech for D2C brands) and Margifi (profit software for Shopify brands).

What we collect

What you type into a form:

  • Your name, WhatsApp number, email and brand website or Instagram handle.
  • Your monthly revenue band (for example ₹10–50L).
  • Your biggest problem, if you pick one on /start, and where you heard about us, if you tell us.
  • The numbers you enter into our calculators, such as orders, average order value, ad spend, RTO rate and costs. You can see your result without giving us any contact details. These numbers are kept in your own browser. We only receive them if you submit a form to save or download your result.
  • Your consent: that you ticked the box, when, on which page, and which version of the consent text you saw.

What we collect automatically:

  • Campaign tags in the link you clicked (UTM source, medium, campaign, content, term) and ad click IDs such as Meta’s fbclid. We store the first and the latest one.
  • A one-way hash of your IP address, used to stop spam and duplicate submissions. We do not store your IP address in plain form with your lead.
  • Basic device and browser details: device type, browser, operating system, screen size and the page you came from.

We do not ask for and do not want sensitive data such as bank details, card numbers, passwords, health data or government ID numbers. Please do not put them in any form.

Why we use it

  • To deliver what you asked for: your checklist, saved calculator report or call booking, on WhatsApp and email.
  • To follow up: a short series of WhatsApp and email messages from The Dwarkesh group with tips, examples and offers that fit your revenue band and problem. Messages come from The Dwarkesh, Bizgrowth Ninja or Margifi.
  • To call you if you asked for a call, or if your answers show we can help.
  • Our weekly email, only if you subscribed to it.
  • To measure our ads and see which posts and campaigns bring useful visitors.
  • To keep the site safe from spam and abuse.

We use your data only for these purposes. If we ever want to use it for something new, we will ask you first.

We process your contact details because you agreed to it by ticking the consent box on a form. The box is never pre-ticked. One tick covers WhatsApp, email and calls from the three group businesses named above, and nobody else.

You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it:

  • WhatsApp: reply STOP to any message.
  • Email: click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.
  • Anything else: write to hello@thedwarkesh.com.

Once you withdraw, we stop messaging you within 7 days. Withdrawing does not affect anything we did before it.

Meta Pixel and Conversions API

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To measure those ads, our pages may use the Meta Pixel, and our server may send events (such as “lead submitted”) to Meta through the Conversions API. When we send contact details to Meta for matching, they are hashed first, so Meta can match them to an account without us sending them in plain text. Meta processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy.

You can limit ad tracking in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings, in your browser, or with a tracker blocker. Our forms and calculators still work if you do.

Who we share it with

  • The Dwarkesh group businesses (The Dwarkesh, Bizgrowth Ninja, Margifi), so the right team can reply.
  • Service providers who process data for us: hosting, our CRM and database, WhatsApp Business messaging, email delivery, call booking and analytics. They may only use it to provide their service to us.
  • Meta, for ad measurement, as described above.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

We do not sell your data. We do not rent or share lead lists with anyone outside the group.

Some of our providers may store data on servers outside India. We only use providers in countries the Government of India has not restricted.

How long we keep it

  • Leads who are not customers: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted.
  • Customers of a group business: for as long as you are a customer, plus whatever period tax and accounting law requires.
  • Consent records and opt-outs: as long as we need to prove what you agreed to or that we must not contact you.
  • Calculator numbers saved in your browser: until you clear your browser storage.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with.
  • Ask us to correct, complete or update it.
  • Ask us to erase it, unless the law requires us to keep it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
  • Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.

Write to hello@thedwarkesh.com from the email or WhatsApp number you gave us, so we can confirm it is you. We reply within 30 days.

Security

We use HTTPS on every page, limit access to people who need it, and hash IP addresses. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Children

This site is for business owners. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you already gave us, we will tell you on WhatsApp or email first.
